Campbell Spellicy has a long and successful history of partnering with UF Levin College of Law on impressive renovations. This space was very dated and needed an upgrade, but it was important to retain many features of the original design. The College wanted to preserve the existing wood paneling on the walls. In the new design, enough wood was salvaged to create a feature wall above the new entry, integrating a piece of the old space into the new.
This area was also where the main return air duct needed to run. Instead of using a metal grille, CSEI worked with the architect to design the spacing and layout of the wood slats so they served as the grille, allowing air to flow through while keeping the duct hidden. This subtle detail exemplifies how small design elements can make a significant impact.
