1017 Surgery Teaching Lab

Gainesville, florida

This project consisted of a 2340 square foot addition and renovation of the surgery teaching suite. All existing supply and general exhaust systems were replaced and re-ducted to the main ducts in the corridor to meet code-mandated air change rates. New DDC controls were introduced for lab air valves, designed to respond to occupancy and room heating/cooling demands, optimizing energy efficiency. New and revised power provisions for general and emergency/life safety needs supported new teaching stations and equipment, derived from the existing building infrastructure with necessary upgrades to panels.

New LED lighting systems with digital controls were installed throughout the suite. Fire alarm devices were upgraded or reconfigured to meet current Code requirements. Sanitary, animal waste, and corrosive waste drain piping were reconfigured to serve new fixtures like teaching stations, scrub sinks, mop sinks, kennel areas, and prep stations, with adjustments to existing piping as needed for the increased fixture load. Upgrades were also made to existing oxygen, vacuum, and other medical gas systems.
